Kunama 1956

Fire

The match flares bright;
The fire devours the paper, the kindling burns,
And the Wood is alight.
The brilliant. flames
The red and gold, leap high
From their bed of coals.
Sparks dart from out the crackling wood,
But the tiny lights soon die.
The flame, less high,
Sinks lower, then lower; the coals, mere ghosts,
In pallid ashes lie.
