HISTORY OF MONARO

Time: 2 hours. Attempt all questions, but do not answer more than
two at once.

Question 1:
Do you remember the opening of the Cooma swimming pool?
If so, what is your recipe for long life.

Question 2:
Write no more than two lines on at least one of the following:
(a) Snowy
(b) Mountains
(c) Hydro
(d) Electric
(e) Authority

Question 3:
"There was once a thriving city called Berridale."
(a) Can you recall its population?
(b) Can you recall anything? (Be honest).
(Hint: less than ten persons, but do not forget the
35 cows, 5 horses, 37 chickens).

Question 4:
Give the date of at least two of the following.
(The day and the month are essential, but the year, of course, it not).
(a) One hundred years ago.
(b) 1959.

Question 5:
Was the Queen of Festival II any relation to the Queen of Festival I?
If not, was this a bad thing? If so, was she a good Queen?

Question 6:
Estimate the value of a £1000 tagged trout with reference to:
(a) Fishing flies.
(b) Lake Coolamatong.
(c) Anything at all.

Question 7:
Give reasons for the decline and fall of the Nimmo Waterhole.
Make special reference to the Eucumbene Dam.

Question 8:
Do not attempt to write on any of the following:

Question 9:
