Typical cold, windy Monaro weather prevented the holding of the usual Anzac Day Ceremony this year. As similar weather threatened to cause the abandoning of the Commonwealth Day Ceremony it was decided to make use of the Public address system, with Captain Noel Arrold as Chairman. Steven Liebmann introduced the speakers, who were Peter Liebmann speaking on W. Churchill, H. Bond - Ben Chifley, R. Benneworth - R. G. Menzies, V. Baxter - Jan Smuts, I. Loutkovsky - Pandit Nehru.
Sue Hine then thanked all the speakers. The ceremony ended with the Flag Ceremony conducted by Diane Hotchkis, and the singing of the National Anthem. It proved most effective.
