Kunama 1960

Literary Contributions / Portrait

He was small, stooped and sunburned, very thin, with large brown hands on which were prominent blue veins. He wore large workman's boots which were very dusty and old, with a delapidated pair of navy trousers, hitched around his narrow hips with an old tie, hideously patterned. His thin blue shirt had lost all but one of its buttons and that one was hanging by one thread. On his greying head was an ancient, battered brown hat in whose hand a twig of gum tree waved in the breeze. From a corner of his mouth hung a smelly black pipe and on his back he carried a bulky swag. At his heels slunk a mangy cattle dog
