The most exciting thing a boy can experience is an International Scout jamboree. It is tremendous in size with tents, marquees, shops and thousands of boy scouts everywhere - making friends, swopping badges, lighting campfires, cooking, washing up - or just talking.
Although it rained nearly all the time this did not spoil our fun. It was especially interesting meeting Dutch, Japanese, Papuan and Maori scouts. I still correspond with some of the boys I met, and have learnt much about how they live.
