Kunama 1961

Looking Around / Destruction

It smouldered for an instant, then the flames leapt upwards into the bush. Within seconds flames were bursting into still bigger flames; and trees and grasses crackled and crashed. The bellowing smoke spiralled upwards, across the blackening forest. Trees burst into flame from the intense heat, while the animals, in terror, fled. The creek it seemed shouted in anger as the timber fell, spluttering and hissing, into the water. When it had burnt itself out, only blackened charred skeletons of trees remained.
