Kunama 1971

1st Grade Cricket

Back: S. Johnson, L. Batten, L. Walcott, W. Nelson, G. Boller, L. Toole, F. Nichols.
Front: N. Podlich, M. Maiden, M. Fitzgerald, D. Lee, T. Blyton, Mr. Fitzgerald.

This was a year of mixed fortunes. The 1st X1 in the two games they played, were successful in beating Dickson quite comfortably but were given a lesson in cricket by Bega.

Against Dickson the bowling honours were taken by Michael Fitzgerald 8-31 and Malcolm Maiden 2-16. Neil Podlich, Fred Nichols and Michael Fitzgerald batted very well to pass Dickson's score with six wickets in hand.

The team then journeyed down to Bega, this time without the services of Michael Fitzgerald, who was with the Combined Riverina Area XI at Parkes, and they proved much too strong, scoring 245 for the loss of five wickets and dismissing Monaro for 51.
